Donor Awareness Council
When the Colorado Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Fund was up for renewal in the State Legislature in the winter of 2007, Pushkin PR worked with the Donor Awareness Council and the parents of Emily Keyes, the student who was tragically murdered at Platte Canyon High School, to coordinate a month long series of events designed to secure the extension of the legislation.
From the initial Senate hearing at the State Capitol, to the “Show Us Your Heart” event where Emily’s family met the recipient of her cornea donation for the first time, to the official ceremony with Governor Ritter extending the bill and renaming it for Emily Keyes, the story received significant coverage by every Denver TV station and both daily newspapers.
