Unless you’ve been living under a rock without WiFi (which hey, in this political climate we completely understand) you’ve likely heard about the obstacles facing local journalism. Here in Denver we’ve witnessed these struggles first hand over the past decade, first with the shuttering of the Rocky Mountain News and later with massive layoffs at the Denver Post. Disgruntled with their corporate owners, a group of first-rate journalists departed the Post and launched a new venture: The Colorado Sun. The community-supported, journalist-owned digital publication launched this past Monday and has already been delivering some great stories, including this piece we loved reading today about how the “outdoor voter” is becoming a driving force in Colorado politics.
